Leh is a town in Leh district of Ladakh, India. It was also the capital of the Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh. Leh is at an altitude of 3,524 metres (11,562 ft), and is connected via National Highway 1 to Srinagar in the southwest and to Manali in the south via the Leh-Manali Highway. Originally a crossroad of several old trading routes from Tibet, Kashgar and Kashmir, Leh became a bustling tourist town since the 1999 Indo-Pak war and the consequent development of Manali-Leh highway. From historic monuments to monasteries and from shopping to trekking, this charming hill station offers all to make your journey unforgettable.
A travellers friendly and so enchanting and hassle-free. Dotted with stupas and whitewashed houses, the Old Town is dominated by a dagger of steep rocky ridge topped by an imposing Tibetan-style palace and fort. Beneath. Leh’s a place that’s all too easy to fall in love with- but you need to take things very easy on arrival as the altitude requires a few days’ acclimatisation before you can safely start enjoying the area’s gamut of adventure activities.
